It blows my mind that this is our last week in Uganda. It feels like just yesterday that I was on the flights here.
God is continuing to reveal His faithfulness to me in so many ways. God began to gently remind me of this when we were in our first location in Tororo. The faucet in the shower was loose so it continuously dripped water, drop by drop. It was slightly obnoxious at first, I won’t lie. But when I finally was quiet, God gave me a picture, He is like this faucet: always faithful, His love never runs out. God is faithful.
When we moved to Kwapa, I was refreshed and rejuvenated by the pure, clean air that was so fresh. We were a 40 minute truck drive away from the city, so we were kind of in the middle of nowhere with no electricity and no running water. The sunsets seen from the remote area of Kwapa were absolutely breathtaking. With each moment passing, colors burst forth in the Ugandan sky; it was as if God had painted it just for me. Once again, He whispered to me, “I am faithful.” The sun may be hot in the day, but around 6:45pm each night, God was and is faithful to take that same sun that had caused sweat to bead down my face earlier in the day to now take my breath away in the most magnificent display of color one could ever imagine. The sunsets that week reminded me that the same love and grace that discipline me always follows with an overflowing portion of joy. God is faithful.
Moving to our final location in Uganda last week, I was excited for what God would bring, but also a bit sad as I have grown to love Uganda in the past month. The second night we were in Malaba we had an evening of worship under the huge sky full of twinkling stars. I was watching the stars, looking for the three constellations I actually know, when I felt a wave of peace rush over my body. The more I stared at the sky, the more stars I could see. The Lord God is no different. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, not looking at any of the competing lights around us, He reveals more of His perfect character to us, more of His love, more of His faithfulness; but we must keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. God is faithful.
God is faithful: His love never runs out (Romans 8:38-39), His love will quiet us (Zephaniah 3:17), and His love is what we must remain in (Jude 21). God is indeed faithful.
