“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and
do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Galatians 5:1
Uganda is a land like no other that I have ever set foot on.
With that said, I love it.
I have been in a season in my life where I have needed freedom from an abundance of things. Spiritual freedom. Physical freedom. Emotional freedom. Uganda is a land – a nation – that is in desperate need of freedom. So, to say the least, we have gotten along pretty well. Just as my heart has been broken and cried for freedom, the faces of Uganda scream for freedom. So that’s what we are here to share. That there is freedom.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.”
As we walk the dirt roads of Bunamwaya, I know I have not felt the same pain as the “Mzungu!” screaming Ugandans, but I know that I have felt a serious desire for freedom. I also absolutely know that I serve a God who promises freedom time and time again. We have visited beautiful schools with beautiful children and God keeps whispering “Freedom. Freedom.” in my heart. We have witnessed down beautiful dirt roads to beautiful faces and God keeps whispering “Freedom. Freedom.” in my heart. Christ has set me free. And every day He sets me free once again. So, I see now, that He has sent me here as a freed child who is constantly still being set free to boldly declare to these hearts that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. That even when they feel like they are unable to be set free, that they are too far for Christ, Christ can step in with freedom like they have never felt before.
Uganda is beautiful! Ugandans are beautiful! We have wonderful hosts who have provided their house as a temporary, but amazing home for us. The Lord is showering us with countless blessings and beautiful souls. Humble, serving, creations of the Lord that I thank Him for every day.
“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from
darkness for the prisoners..”
Isaiah 61:1
