I didn’t shower for 29 days

Sad (and stinky) but true. The title of this blog could have also easily been: “I almost dropped my glasses in the squatty”, or “walk 10 miles in my shoes”, or “reason #5294 that everyone should own a hammock.”
This month has been amazing. We lived in the backyard of our pastors house in tents in the middle of nowhere Kenya. No electricity, no running water, no toilet and obviously no showers. I have been living with the Maasai tribe. Eating what they eat, walking where they walk, learning their language. They are such a loving, passionate, colorful group of people. I have fallen in love with their culture and the simplicity that is their way of life.
Anyone that talked to me before this trip knows my goal for Africa was to dance with a tribe, around a fire, under the stars, in the middle of nowhere. Well friends, welcome to my month. No experience can compare to how the spirit of the living God falls when we sing praises to him and dance because of the joy he has given us. Every tribe, every tongue, every generation.
This month has been full of strong relationships, memories made, and plenty of God moments. The laughter and tears have both been ample and I wouldn’t trade them for anything. I am renewed and I have a fire that I can’t describe in words. I thank God everyday for the promise he gives me in Hosea 2:14. “But then I will win her back once again. I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her there.” Thank you Lord for brokenness. Thank you for wining me back. Thank you for speaking to me. And thank you for Africa.
