Month 1

Our time here in Uganda is almost up. We have moved around to 3 different locations in the last month. I’m just going to tell you a little bit about them all. We started in Tororo, then Kwapa, now we are in Malaba.

Our first 10 days we were in Tororo, Uganda. We stayed in a compound about 7 minutes from town. The kids we got to play with right outside our compound were amazing! I loved just going out there and playing games with them and singing songs with them! One little boy named Ivan always called me Obama because Obama’s wife is Michelle. Others here have called me that to or Mrs. Obama.  One day I saw him writing in the dirt so I went over. I discovered he was writing “Ivan and Michelle forever” It was so precious! I love him so much! Our compound in Tororo was the hottest place we have stayed so far! It did have running water and electricity most days though! That was real awesome!

Our next 9 days were spent in Kwapa, Uganda. We were in the middle of nowhere. Technically we were only 10 miles from Tororo, but it took 40 minutes to get to town, so we didnt go to town but once. Being in the middle of nowhere was absolutely amazing! I saw God in everything. Once you are placed in the middle of nowhere you see God in so much more! The stars were mind blowing! More stars than I have ever seen! Every sunset was incredible to see God in! We had no electricity or running water. We bucket showered! Well those of us that actually showered..The squatty in Kwapa was my least favorite. It was not fun at all! I lvoed being in Kwapa though because it was so easy to see God in everything!

Our next 12 days or so we are in Malaba, Uganda. Its about 20 minutes or so from Tororo. Our compound here is pretty big. Sometimes if you’re lucky you can actually get some alone time, but only if you’re lucky! Once again not super close to anything big so the stars are amazing! Our cook, Asheem, is awesome! He makes us speghetti some days! It’s not like our speghetti back home, but its still real good! It is such a nice change up from rice and beans. He is real cool! This squatty is by far my favorite! Yeah I’m talking about it. It is much easier to use than any of the others.

Uganda has been awesome! I have learned to see God in everything and know its all happening for a reason. My team is incredible and im so excited to be moving on to Kenya next week! It is going to be awesome! I know God is doing big things in all of us here. I also know God is doing big things in anyone reading this! Just stpe out and let God take control! Give up everything to Him!

                                  “your saying
Come step out on the waters child
                                           Turn your eyes on me,
lift your head and you will be relieved”
