So for those of you who do not know me
yet my name is Daniel Chantlos and I am one of the co-leaders of
Expedition Team 3. I just got back from The World Race (Which is 11
countries in 11 months: India, Nepal, Romania, Moldova, Swaziland,
Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia and
Malaysia.) on November 19th. It was nice to be home for
the holidays but kind of weird since I knew I wasn’t going to be home
for long.
On January 6th, I said good
by to family and hometown friends again and headed to Gainsville, GA
to meet up with my fellow Racers for Project: Searchlight. This was
an opportunity to reunite with friends and start working out next
steps in our lives. It was wonderful hanging out with everyone
again. My next steps were pretty set for the next four month and I
wasn’t really looking to far ahead of that. I walked around the AIM
offices and talked to some of the staff and they were all awesome. I
started looking around to see what positions I might be interested
in.
On the 11th, the rest of the
Passport leaders came to town and we started training. It was a lot
of fun getting to meet everyone and trading new stories and
experiences. Along with late night Wendy’s runs. (Thanks for the
car Kelly, I hope you enjoy your candle.)
On the 13th all the leaders
traveled to the airport to pick up our students. It was so much fun
seeing 88 kids with oversized backs hanging out in the airport not
having a clue what they had signed up for. We broke up into our
teams and had a crazy adventure running around downtown Atlanta that
night and almost for a group on the subway. Training camp was a
great experience for so many of the students. I loved sitting back
and watch God move in power through their lives. (I’ll let them tell
their stories which are awesome by the way.)
So on the 17th, I found
myself back at the Atlanta airport ready to start another crazy
adventure with a new family. I can’t even begin to tell you how
excited I am for month 13ish.
