12 points for the mzungu

You make beauty from our ashes and a hope that’s everlasting.
the past has been redeemed
now forever we will sing
You can make all things new
only Your power can raise us
You can make all things new
only Your love can save us
all hope is not lost
YOU MAKE ALL THINGS NEW

I came here expecting God to do BIG things. Yet even with those expectations, He has surpassed them. I came while in the darkness, with no direction, no guidance, no intimacy, no passion….apathetic. But in these short 2 weeks, God has called me out of the darkness and into a season of seeking truth. It’s a tough season. There are so many questions and not too many answers. When reading Psalms that say to wait with hope for the Lord, I wonder what the heck I’m hoping for, what to have faith in. But God has repeatedly shown me to just have faith in His goodness. If we seek Him, He will not turn us away. My faith was shaking, and I doubted everything. I tried to pull myself out, to get my feet back on solid ground. I tried to read His word and pray and love Him, and seek Him, but I realized something in all of that. There was nothing I could do to fall back in love with God. He had to come after me, and when He did, He did it harder than He ever has before. HE IS GOOD. He can make all things new and redeem all things. I asked for healing, and He is following through. In a season of knowing nothing and having no answers, I learn that He is all I have to be dependent on. There is nothing else I hold onto. I cannot. I will not. He is the only solid rock, and even when there is no hope in view, there still is. He is always good.

The Ugandan culture reminds me mostly of Latin America, even the poverty level witnessed thus far. The children are precious and scream mzungu every time you walk by. The cars and motorcycles purposely swerve towards you. I’m not sure why yet…I’m honestly not quite sure where we are. I’ve heard Jinja, Bunamaya, Kampala…I have no clue! So far, we are speaking in churches and schools, and just showing Jesus’s love wherever we go. Not so many really insane stories yet aside from what God is doing internally and within this team.

I will keep the updates coming when available!
