Well, we are now in a new country, in a new town, with a new host, and doing new things. Hello, Moshi!
Every Wednesday night, our hosts, Ryan and Stacy, have all of the short- and long-term missionaries that are around come to their home for a night of worship. Thus, our second night here, we had the privilege of worshiping with several other missionaries. Can I just say: it was amazing! There is something so powerful about praising God with fellow believers with the same mission from all around the world. The house was packed with people: Stacy and Ryan’s family, our team, 4 interns, several American couples, a YWAM team from several countries…Throughout the evening, we just praised God with a guitar, a djembe, and our voices. Just as Matthew 18:20 promises, “where two or three [or several] are gathered together in my name, there [God was] among [us].” The presence of God filled the room like I’ve never experienced. You know how you can be in a room on the computer while someone else is milling around? You aren’t looking at them, but you know they’re there. It was like that: there was no denying God’s presence even though we didn’t see him with our physical eyes. After a while of praising, the group began to prophecy over two people, including Keith Michael. It seems that he is called to be a pastor to a new kind of church in Oakland, CA. Or Okland, New Zealand 🙂
What was really neat though was the commissioning that the long-termers did over the short-termers. You see, we’ve learned a lot here in Africa. God has shown up in big ways. He has spoken to us. We have learned to hear his voice, to speak truth over ourselves and others, to rebuke the devil, to cast out lies, to pray for the sick, to declare truth over nations. But God hasn’t shown and taught us all of that just for this trip. He’s been preparing us. Preparing us for home, America, you. Of course, those people know that and they thought it important to remind us. So America, we’re coming. In just a couple weeks, we’ll be stepping off of airplanes and into a new mission field. Get ready 🙂
