Living Water

Every morning we wake up around 6:30am (sometimes earlier), have breakfast, and then start the chores of the day. The very first task that needs to be done is one of the most strenuous tasks. You wouldn’t assume this to be all that difficult, but fetching water for the day is actually a form of heavy physical labor. We are living in the hottest part of Malawi and our home sits on top of a hill that overlooks the villages below. Every morning we have to take buckets down the hill, make our way through one of the villages, get to the well, pump out the water, hike through the village...

What’s up in Malawi

Hello from Senga Bay! After a very long and very interesting 5 days of travel, our team finally did make it to Malawi.  We are loving it and are so thankful for the week and a half that we have spent here so far! And for a little update on what we have been up to… The 14 of us are living together here in our small brick room that has so quickly become home.  We don’t have electricity or any power, but oh do we love it.  The compound we are staying at is on a hill that is surrounded by some more rural villages, and thankfully within walking distance and within...

Safe in malawi!

Hello Family and Friends of the Expedition Ladies! I want to give you all a quick update. The team made it to their ministry site in Malawi yesterday. It took a little longer for them to get there, due to extra buses, and it being Africa. They will be posting blogs shortly–once they settle in to their new ministry site/living space/schedule. But I just wanted to let you know that they are doing great. I got to see them last week, and this is an incredible team of women!! Thanks for supporting them so well! -Field Support Staff-

Packing our bags, and more

I'm sitting on a bunk at Milimani, the hostel we"ve been blessed enough to call our home twice on our journey in Africa. We have less than 12 hours before a multi day trip to Malawi. Watching my team mates pack up for the next leg of our adventure is SO amazing. We're bringing more than luggage into Malawi. We're bringing the fire that's been ignited here at debfief. We're bringing a love that's been growing and growing within our team over the past few weeks. We're bringing a mighty army to shake the ground of Malawi. And I'm SO...

The Bananny Diaries (photos!!)

31,680 minutes. 31,680 moments so dear. 31, 680 minutes, how do you measure our time in Tanzania? In BANANAS. Our team has eaten more bananas than we ever thought possible in our 3 weeks in Moshi. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all times in between. We were incredibly blessed by the abundance of fresh produce and wonderful cooking of our Tanaznian mama. In an attempt to make meals more interesting, my team mate, Chaunseen, and I posed with our bananas at meals. I called it, the bananny diaries. Here's a few snapshots!!

A stirring for more – INDIA 2013

I never would have imagined that God would call me to be where I am right now. I never, ever would have imagined where He would call me to next.   I am blessed.  I am blessed beyond measure.  I am blessed that for these four months, I get to wake up every day knowing that I am at the center of God’s will. I get to wake up in Africa.  I get to wake up on one of the poorest, most struggling, and most starving continent in the world.  I get to wake up every day knowing that my work is cut out for me.  I get to wake up, and go outside, and tell people...
