I am more than a CONQUEROR

All my life I’ve been striving to be the “perfect” person.  I always tried hard in my studies (okay maybe not maths), I was always saying the “right” words or doing the “right things”, I was always trying to find ways to be seen as “the good child”. When I was little I would be good so my parents would reward me. Yes they loved me unconditionally but I still sought after the recognition and rewards of being the “good one” to get that extra lolly or treat. There is nothing wrong with seeking to be your best –...

No shoes but a smile on her face.

First day at the care point. My heart was broken in more ways than it ever has been or I ever thought possible. Some of these kids only see love with the few hours that they are there during the day. Some kids only receive one meal the whole day and that is there. One girl caught my eye on that first day. I tried to get her to play but she just wanted to sit on my lap. Just to feel loved. It Is All About You Jesus

I had many expectations coming on this trip. Some were good like meeting my team and experiencing new cultures. Some were not so good like how being away from my family would feel like and not sleeping in my own bed. At Least One More.

In Africa, the answer to a question starting with “How many…?” can usually be answered with “at least one more.”   How many people can we fit in this African bus? This van? The bed of this pickup truck? At least one more.   How many meals are we going to eat rice? At least one more.   How many poop conversations are we gonna have? At least one more.   How many times is Carmella going to win Monopoly? At least one more.   How many mosquitos am I going to kill in my tent? At least one more.   How any days can I go without...

Have my daughter.

“I want you to have her,” said the 21 year old mother. What? I must have heard her wrong. Have her daughter?     I met a beautiful young woman, Deti, and her gorgeous 2 year old daughter the other day. After I found out her name she instantly asked how old I was. At first I was confused but once I told her I was 20 she said, “I want you to have her.” “What?” I responded. “I want you to have her.” “Why?” I responded. “Because I can’t feed her; I have no money.”   My heart broke into a million...
