Unexpected Lessons from an Unexpected Place

I had no idea what to expect from training camp for The Passport. Visions of boring name-games and lame team-building exercises came to mind. I came with low expectations and a “let’s-just-get-to-Africa” mentality. Although I am still an anxious mindset to get to Africa, I have been completely blown away by the personal and spiritual growth I have experienced in three days here. God has been opening my heart and my mind from the moment I got here and I can’t wait to see how He continues to stretch and mold me in Africa. Here are a couple of things I have learned...

Training to become Amazing

Training camp so far has taught us so much. It is really preparing us to go out and do the best mission we can. So far I have learned that we are basically going to do evangelism. That first scared the crap out of me. Like am I good enough to go spread God’s love and word? I really struggled with that thought. With my group we prayed together and talked a bunch. We are all good enough because we have God to equip us on the field. What really got to me here is the true worship. You will never know what worship is until you do it with a room full of 200 God fearing people. It...

TITC (This is Training Camp)

“How beautiful upon the mountain are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion ‘Your God reigns.’ The voice of your watchmen – they lift up their voice; together they sing for joy; for eye to eye they see the return of the Lord to Zion. Break forth together into singing you waste places of Jerusalem for the Lord has comforted His people; He has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has bared His holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the...

The Lion of Judah is Thundering Deep

Training camp has taught me how to be free in Christ. Jesus is breaking chains that have been holding me down my entire life. The lion of judah is thundering deep, roaring down the walls of fear in me. I am so fired up for this trip, for it to be something more than another summer mission trip. I want to encounter the full glory of God face to face. Something that will change me both physically and spirtually. I have a hunger for the Holy Spirit that cannot be contained right now. I’m so ready to get out in the field and heal the sick, break chains and bring hope. Open the floodgates...

The beginning of the rest of my life

Training camp has been as amazing experience! I had no idea what this part of the trip was going to look like but it has trulyset me in efire for what we will be doing in Africa. I have seen the Lord working in so many ways. The worship is just incredible and inspiring and unlike anything I have ever experienced. I have learned how o surrender all of my fears and worries and concerns and burdens, and how to truly open up to people. I am realizing how much I am in need of my savior and how completely broken I am without Him and I am loving every minute of it! I know that I have to be broken...
