How to Peel Cassava

It would seem odd to a Ugandan male to sit on the ground and peel cassava, but not to me. Connecting with the community of villagers in Morkabu through this everyday task gave me a glimpse in to what eternal servitude is. Thessalonians tells us to lead a quiet life, work with our hands, and win the respect of outsiders; the born again Christians in rural Uganda live this everyday. WIth God in their hearts and light in their eyes plowing begins early before the afternoon rain, and only for the keen of eye and awareness of heart can feel and see the existence of innocence that is still present on earth. To feel the peace and balance of a community contented gives us a small look at the balance of the universe itself. For if you look closely while following the dirt paths between fields of millet and onions everything seems to slow as the ground itself knows that God is caring for it. So the question that needs asking is, Can we slow down to feel our creator the way nature does around us? Peeling requires patience, patience allows us to listen, and if we listen we can hear the whisper of God floating over the fields and creeks telling us to follow him and become who we were born to be.
