Last month in Mozambique we stayed with a pastor named Filito Utuie. He was a man who was clearly anointed by God and Filito was blessed with many spiritual gifts. He told us a story of when he went to a Muslim village in northern Mozambique and wanted to share the love of Jesus there. He told the chief of the village he wanted to show the Jesus film, preach the gospel, and heal the sick. The chief didn’t care too much for the first two things he said, but once Filito said “heal the sick”, the chiefs eyes got a little bit wider. After the film and a powerful message, the people came to him and asked for prayers for healing. Filito prayed for many people that night and he saw a little girl gain her vision for the first time in her life at 8 years old. He also saw a man healed of his deafness in both of his ears, and even a child with one leg shorter than the other that grew a bone in her leg until both were the same length. After all of that, the Muslim chief took the microphone and said “there is one God, and he is your God, and I know that because no man could have done these things tonight”. It’s amazing how God can take people who seem like they would never convert, and still turn them into believers of Jesus Christ. We should not give up hope for anyone, and always trust that God can still move through them.
