Worship

What is this thing we call worship?

To me it was the few songs we would sing on Sunday mornings in church. Have a band, some cool equipment and sing some songs.

I have been to a lot of churches where they think it is necessary to have big speakers, amazing lights and sound equipment and a huge building.

Let me tell you what worship has looked like for us this trip.

My favourite worship moment would have to be in Mozambique. Picture a dark night, the only light is the bright stars above us, there’s a group of around 40 people (our team and then the local church) all standing in the sand. There is no building only a small tin roof balancing on some tree branches that can cover maybe half of us.
We are singing songs that I don’t even understand and yet it fills me with so much joy just to hear them sing these songs of praise. No instruments, no lights or speakers, not even a building – but this was the most pure form of worship ever.
I knelt down in the red dusty sand and just worshiped my Abba Father. The one who created the stars above me, the one who created me.

We also worship as a team at home, sometimes using an ipod and a little speaker, sometimes its just our voices and then there are the times I play on my little pink guitar.
Worship isn’t this big spectacle. It is simple, our sacrifice, our gift to the Lord.

I have seen my team worship whilst digging holes,  painting walls, whilst holding children, cooking meals and we have even seen Ellie worshiping in her sleep!

Worship has become such a natural thing to do.

How do you see worship? Is it something that you find yourself doing everyday or is it something that is only happening on Sunday mornings?
Worship always.
