AFX has made it to Mozambique

AFX team has made it to Mozambique. The team does not have access to internet this month as we are in a town that is very limited in those ways! We will be back to internet in 2.5 weeks when we go back to Johannesburg, South Africa for final debrief. The team is doing really well and enjoying ministry! We are building mud huts for the disabled, doing house visits, preaching in churches, and visiting local prison, hospitals, and special needs schools for outreach. Mozambique is beautiful, hot, and tropical. Most of the team is getting to tent this month, which they are loving! Thank you...

The Prince of Peace Created the Havoc Maker

Last Thursday one of my team leaders said headquarters had called to say that I was supposed to call my dad. My first thought was “Oh no. Somehow my phone is trying to connect to service and I have huge fees.” Such was not the case. It turned out one of my grandpas, Kenneth Moy, had just passed away.    Immediately I felt that the peace that I had had the entire trip was stolen from me.  I went in my room, (in which four of us sleep on the ground shoulder to shoulder), and opened my Bible simply because I was in shock and didn’t know what else to...

This is Africa: Merry Christmas in October

Manzini, Swaziland Today marks day five out of the one month we will spend in this beautiful country before moving on to Mozambique. I already know it is going to be hard to leave. As I sit writing this, I glance to my left and right where my teammates’ belongings sit huddled together. This is Africa:

Isaiah 58:6-7, “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?” I want to dedicate the majority of this post to letting you all know what Erika and Louis Lingenfelder, our hosts at the BEAM House, are up to. I spent the majority of this week assisting Erika in her office and assembling...

Finally, Mozambique

Family and Friends,   We have arrived in Mozambique and have just finished our first day of ministry. We originally planned on being here on Friday but due to some visa issues we had to spend an extra weekend in Malawi. It was a hard goodbye. We grew really close to the family we were staying with and several members of the ministry we were partnered with. We had some amazing experiences and they taught us so much. Each of us have really cool stories about our time in Malawi.   We met several members of this ministry last night during an orientation time. We will be working in a...
