Kenya Believe it

“Set a fire down in my soul that i cant contain that I can’t control. I want more of you God I want more of you.” Over the last month and a half me and my team have spent our time with the amazing Maasai tribe in Ngabolo Kenya. Kenya has literally stolen my heart from day one. With it’s AMAZING landscape and the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets that our Father has ever painted!! I knew from the very start that He had me there in Kenya for a unique purpose. Our ministry consisted of walking, some more walking, and even more walking. Throughout the month we did door...

Why is there a goat in my tent?

March 23 Fun short story.. Mid afternoon is probably my favorite part of the day. That’s my time to escape to my tent, pop in my headphones, open my journal and enjoy my God time. I absolutely love it! Not only am I able to escape the chaos of the day but I’m also able to escape the blazing African sun. I unzip both doors and enjoy the cool breeze that flows through. It’s a perfect combination of hot sun, steady wind, blaring music and my Heavenly Father. Yesterday (3/22) was another one of those great afternoons. Everything was going just like it always does;...

Never Say Goodbye.

We just left Ng’Abolo, Kenya. That has been our home for the past month. Leaving there was not one bit easy. Part of my heart will always be there with Mika. I love that little boy so much. I already miss having him fall asleep in my arms every night at the bonfire. I miss coming home from ministry and him running from the house passing everyone until he got to me and him jumping up into my arms. I miss his butterfly kisses and his fishy kiss face. I miss the love that he has. I miss the love he has for God. I miss the hugs he would give me.The way he would sing and praise...

When nothing goes right go left

My dad would be so impressed with how I have learned over the past few months to go with the flow. People are human and plans change. This is Africa. Expectations flew out the window when I took off from home back in January. My new take and practice of fluidity may not be the best but it is solely centered on what God has planned for my life. I guess that does make it the best. Asking him to reveal to me my next step. That is what got me here right? It is a crazy concept for me to take life one step at a time because I love to plan and make lists and follow logic. But sometimes your God...

I didn’t shower for 29 days

Sad (and stinky) but true. The title of this blog could have also easily been: “I almost dropped my glasses in the squatty”, or “walk 10 miles in my shoes”, or “reason #5294 that everyone should own a hammock.” This month has been amazing. We lived in the backyard of our pastors house in tents in the middle of nowhere Kenya. No electricity, no running water, no toilet and obviously no showers. I have been living with the Maasai tribe. Eating what they eat, walking where they walk, learning their language. They are such a loving, passionate, colorful group...

Simply a Ragamuffin

March 14,2012 I’m a little past the halfway point in Kenya and I’ve got to be honest, it’s been a bit of an emotional roller coaster. I love Kenya and everything is has to offer. Pastor David, his family and the Maasai community have welcomed us with open arms and made our stay amazing thus far. The Maasai tribe is an incredible group of people. They are so generous and hospitable. Although there is a definite language barrier, they seem to look past it with laughter and smiles. I will definitely miss this wonderful and unique group of people.  Living along side them...
