Method to the madness

I didn’t fully understand what AIM meant by frequent traveling until recently. Joining the expeditions team meant not staying in one place for very long. Basically, once I get comfortable in one location my world is turned upside down and we move to a new ‘home.’ As of last Wednesday, we are living in the pastors home in the bush. That leads me to one more misunderstanding on my end, the bush. To my surprise that meant no running water, no electricity, no toilet and 100’s of children that have never, or rarely, seen a mzungu (white person). That made for an...

Heartbroken

A couple of Sundays ago my team mate and I were doing children’s ministry. I saw this girl who was about 13 years old in the crowd. She has a huge smile on her face and beautiful voice. As soon as I saw her we connected and I felt an instant love for this girl. After church I ran around looking for her to try and tell her how beautiful she was, but I was unable to find her because she had already gone home for the day.  Then on that Monday we were back at the church getting ready to do hospital ministry and out of the corner of my eye I saw her. Month 13ish

So for those of you who do not know me yet my name is Daniel Chantlos and I am one of the co-leaders of Expedition Team 3. I just got back from The World Race (Which is 11 countries in 11 months: India, Nepal, Romania, Moldova, Swaziland, Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, Australia and Malaysia.) on November 19th. It was nice to be home for the holidays but kind of weird since I knew I wasn’t going to be home for long. (Tigers in Thailand) On January 6th, I said good by to family and hometown friends again and headed to Gainsville, GA to meet up with my fellow Racers...

Assistance!

Assistance! Posted in General Posts by Megan Lee Esposito on 1/29/2012 My world has been rocked. I never thought Uganda, Africa would break me like it has. To be honest, I felt pretty prepared to spend four months in a foreign country living with complete strangers and teaching the gospel. That sounded like a once in a life time opportunity when I was in the comfort of my home, sleeping in my bed, eating familiar food, and not worrying about how secure my mosquito net was. I was so pumped to break out of my comfort zone and try new things. Oh, how quickly I learned. What I wanted most out...

You must be in de-NILE

You see what I did there? It’s funny because I am in Africa. Well once we finally made it here things really started happening. I wasn’t sure what to expect or if I should be expecting anything at all. After training camp I learned that this experience would be so much greater if I let my selfish wants and expectations go out the window and let God do work. And so far this has been the most amazing journey. I have discovered that I LOVE Africa time and I LOVE not knowing. It adds to the thrill of it all. Let me just inform you about Africa time. When someone says that they will...
