A stirring for more – INDIA 2013

I never would have imagined that God would call me to be where I am right now. I never, ever would have imagined where He would call me to next.   I am blessed.  I am blessed beyond measure.  I am blessed that for these four months, I get to wake up every day knowing that I am at the center of God’s will. I get to wake up in Africa.  I get to wake up on one of the poorest, most struggling, and most starving continent in the world.  I get to wake up every day knowing that my work is cut out for me.  I get to wake up, and go outside, and tell people...

hearing HIS voice

A few nights ago I was sitting outside our little cement home, starring at the stars, worshiping with my ipod, when I barried my head in my shirt. I instictively breathed through my nose, which was filled with the distinct smell of Tanzania (It's a smell you particually do not want yourself to smell like). But the second I smelt that burning trash smell my head was filled with the feeling that I was home. I knew I was home because for so long I'd been searching for exactly this. For this relationship with HIM that compares to nothing else because I can hear HIS voice more often then...

light amidts darkness

I wake up every morning, roll out from under my mosquito net in our little cement house, and walk outside to absolute pure natural beauty.  I walk around and I see mountains upon mountains upon banana trees and wildflowers of every color.   Tanzania is without a doubt one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been. And underneath it all are some of the hardest things I have ever faced.   From the moment we stepped off the bus into this country, I could feel a weight over myself – a heavy one that has not gone away in any of the weeks that we’ve been living...

……..This is a little peak into my journal. But, just a little explanation before I let you read it. Declarations of who I am and who God is have been huge. Defining absolutes has been essential to holding fast to the truth while I'm here. Also, I write my journal to God, so these are my private thoughts; don't judge =) Monday, October 15th …Alot of the time I want a normal healthy meal, time to tan, and an exhausting, mind-clearing workout. But right now, I'm craving a cold rainy day. Boots, jeans, and a hot coffee. Spending time by a fire pondering life and...

seeing HIS words come alive (Part 1)

Exactly fourteen days ago I was sitting in the back of our bus crossing the border into Tanzania. I sat there watching the people outside of our bus stare intently at fourteen white girls riding in what probably looked like a luxurious bus (granted, it was very nice).  As we got further into town and into what seemed like deserted land, I was taken back when those people that would just stare intently started running towards our bus. Not out of interest or excitement, but with rage on their faces.  At that moment with raging African people coming after a bus that would obviously...
