What to Expect When You’re Not Expecting

For those of you who do not know – most of you – Tanzania was the ATL – Ask the Lord – portion of our trip. That means that when we left the states we had no idea where in Tanzania we would be. When we left Uganda we had no idea what ministry would look like, and when we left Kenya we only knew the name of the town we would be in and a phone number for our contact.       The way our ATL work was that while in Uganda we set aside two nights to pray as a team and ask the Lord for words or visions of what Tanzania ministry would look like. We then...

Kenya, beautiful Kenya.

It feels likes I was just making my first Ken-Ya jokes (ex: “Ken-Ya Believe It?” “Ken-Ya pass the chipati?”) It feels like I just witnessed the first of many Kenya jerseys being bought by our team. Like I just met our translator/guide/friend Phillip for the first time. Or heard my first all night worship session on full volume from our church across the street. Or saw my first Kenyan street child and didn’t know how to react. It feels like Jerusa just woke us up to our first “African babies!” screams. That I did my first door...

Kenya in a nutshell (:

Hello BEAUTIFUL readers. I’m sure after my last blog, several of you are scared to read this. So, let me explain myself. Yes, my last blog was written out of anger and frustration, but it by no means was me expressing that I wanted to go home.    I LOVE KENYA. You have Cat to be Kitten me right Meow!

Wow so much has happened since I last blogged. Lets see if I can tell about a few experiences so far.   So. Last saturday was a crazy day. a few of us from the team decided to go to some massive rock structures a little ways out of Bungoma. It was a trip of a lifetime. I wish I could put pictures on here. These stones were huge and were all over this mountain/hill thing. So after hiking up the majority of the hills we came to the mother of all rocks. Hundreds of feet up was the top of this giant. In the distance someone spots the sketchiest ladder of all time. There is no possible way...

The best things come out of being alone.          when i was up on the rooftop not feeling good God gave me so many convictions, and that turned into my first sermon. So hear it is, hope you enjoy!  I have everything to lose By not getting up to fight I might get used to giving up So I am showing up tonight I am my own enemy The battle fought within my mind If I can overcome step 1 I can face the 99        -Superchick               When I’m in that place of I feel like I can’t face things...

ABC’s: Next time Kenya sing with me?

Well, TIA (This is Africa).  The power just went out for the second time in the internet cafe we’re in and I lost my almost-completed blog again. I won’t have as much detail as I was originally planning, so have some fun in using your imagination. 🙂  Here are the ABC’s of Kenya!   A- Adventure. Went Rock/Mountain Climbing. B- Babies. Held babes and prayed for them in the hospital. C- Chipati and Carbs. It’s been a pretty carb-ful diet, and yes, it is possible to get sick of chipati. D- D-train. No explanation necessary, ha. E- Evangelism....
