Rico.

“For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien..” – Deuteronomy 10:18   Rico. Rico is a beautiful baby girl. She is no more than 3 months old. I was able to meet Rico this Sunday when a woman holding her outside the church introduced me to her. She has a beautiful face and an impressive grip. Rico does not have a present father. JESUS HEALS THE CHILDREN

Last week we did hospital ministry… I hate hospitals in America so you can only imagine how I felt in a hospital in Kenya. I will spare you the details but in short it was horrifying. Yet I knew that the Lord was using us and that our prayers were not going unheard. I prayed for a lot of people and somewhere in there prayed for a young boy, no older than 2, that was very sick. I wasnt positive as to what he was sick with because his mothers english was not the best but I just prayed healing upon him in Jesus Christ’s name and then left. To be honest I didnt think much about him...

Let’s Cut the Crap…

Warning : The following blog may be messy. Don’t be surprised if the content is random, explicit, distressing, or just plain raw. This is honest. This is life in Africa. Fact : Africa sucks. A LOT. My pour journal is probably tired of me taking my frustration, heartache, disappointment, and just plain anger out on it. But, I’m frustrated people! I mean, let’s be real here. Africa is NOT all butterflies and sunshine. It’s a whole lot of dirt, sickness, gross smelling, nasty old men. And, I don’t say any of this out of spite or hatred. I say it because it’s...

God is SO Good.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESSE.” -Love, Africa That’s pretty much EXACTLY what I woke up to this morning.        Knowing I would be celebrating my birthday in Africa, I was PRETTY excited. Of course, while in the states I had no idea what that would exactly look like but an African birthday party sounded pretty fantastic to me – whatever it would entail. So being the CRAZY bunch that we are, 9 of us decided to stay up until 12:01 until June 30th African style. So I sat on our freezer (We have a freezer?! I know. Complete blessing.) in the...

Kenya Hear Me?

I know the Lord hears us when we call on HIS great name. I know this. However this season of my life has taught me how to rely on that understanding. ” Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present youre request to God.” This Ive known since I was a child and in the past I have lifted my burdens up to the Lord. But it doesn’t stop there…Philippians 4 continues to say“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Prayer gives us a...

Electricity

First of all, today is Jesse’s 19th birthday! Saturdays are free days for the team, so some of us girls got all dressed up (put on a clean shirt and jeans…) and went to town to get lunch! We bought chocolate and went back to watch Sydney White on Kristen’s laptop, and it was such a good time. Being in fellowship with such amazing women is one of my favorite parts of being in Africa.  Jesse in the middle! So much love for that girl 🙂     This is where we live! (house left, kitchen right)    It is in this house that I was...
