Moving on already?

Wow we are almost done here in Uganda!! Time is flying by so fast. Two weeks doesn’t even seem like two days here. But God has done wonderful things in this short time. He has given us the most wonderful people to work with, the best host family you could ask for, and crazy insight into who we are and what we are all here for.            I don’t want to leave Uganda already but I know God has plans for us in Kenya, and Tanzania also. But in this short time of being here in Uganda i have made new friends....

schooling in a Father’s love

Our ministry here in Uganda so far has involved a lot of teaching in schools (the two main schools we’ve visited are connected to our contact’s church).  It’s been an unexpected blessing and learning curve for me.   When we arrive at a school, we spread out among the classes, one or two of us per room depending on the size of the school and the age of the kids.  We basically teach whatever the kids are learning that day, especially English classes.  I’ve been surprised to find I apparently have a real heart for the Primary 1 group –...

Supremacy

Our host home is beautiful and cozy, but not exactly spacious.  We all cram into the family room to have some time together at nights which is wonderful and necessary, but I am a huge ball of sweat at the end.  One night I just needed to get some fresh air and some peace, so I went out into the little compound thing to just sit.  It was dark out and the stars were shining.  I look up at the expanse of the sky and just ask the Lord to bring peace to my stirring soul.  I was simply just trying to rest in the Lord, but I was being distracted.  The house next door...

Forever and For Always

I’m keeping you forever and for always We will be together all of our days Want to wake up every morning to your sweet face Always. -Shania Twain We hear this song almost EVERY day here in Bunamwaya, Uganda. It is a strange techno version of the song, but the message is the same. It is a sweet reminder of home and also a reminder of the heart of God. Through teaching at school, going to church, and walking through the small town that we live in, we have seen so many of these sweet faces. It is so beautiful to know that this is the Lord’s desire for us, that we would...

12 points for the mzungu

You make beauty from our ashes and a hope that’s everlasting.  the past has been redeemed  now forever we will sing You can make all things new only Your power can raise us You can make all things new only Your love can save us all hope is not lost YOU MAKE ALL THINGS NEW   I came here expecting God to do BIG things. Yet even with those expectations, He has surpassed them. I came while in the darkness, with no direction, no guidance, no intimacy, no passion….apathetic. But in these short 2 weeks, God has called me out of the darkness and into a season of...
