Screaming the Gospel Silently.

ekkkk I’m supper excited to blog right now 😀 so I just spent about 2 week with the Maasai tribe- like WHAT?!?!?! I still don’t think that sentence has fully digested through my brain yet. it has been a wonderful two weeks filled with singing and tribal dancing by the fire and under the stars that seem to reproduce and multiply every second. My innocence has REBIRTHED with these wonderful people. Discovering entertainment in the simple things: like songs by a campfire, jumping contests, beading necklaces and sowing skirts, walking by the distant rivers, milking camels, and...

My Skin is Burning with the Fire of the Lord…

No, really. My skin has felt like it’s been on fire since we left for Maasai land. It has been so incredibly worth it though! These past few days, I’ve felt like I’m in The Lion King….minus the lions 🙂 We’ve seen giraffes, elephants, gazelles, and teal-colored birds. We’ve seen stars that seem close enough to touch, trees just like in the movie, and long, rolling mountains that stretch as far as the eye can see. Most importantly, though, we’ve experienced the Maasai people. They mostly wear brightly-colored wraps (just pieces of fabric), an...

a whitey and mighty!

uganda uganda uganda uganda… so here I am in kenya getting ready for our 25 mile hike into the bush to hang out with giraffes and zebras and the INTENSE  maasai tribe. And much has happened, much to come. PRAISE GOD, wow he is faithful and fun 🙂 i love Jesus!   our team spent one week in the town of Tororo and after leaving the town we ventured off into a distance remote village, Morkebu.  I was expecting for the ugandans to treat us the same as those in town, but of course my expectations were  very very very wrong (kinda a recurring theme throughout this trip)...

Love and Chairs

I cannot believe my time in Uganda is already over. It all went by so quickly but it was full of experience that I will never forget. Uganda has taught me so much but I think the most important lesson I learned is how to love and not love like the world but love someone with the love of Christ. The people in Uganda are all so kind and giving. I don’t think I met one person who was not happy that we were there and who were not willing to drop everything just so we had a place to sit. That is the one thing you can always count on in Uganda. Chairs!! These people had a rediculous amount...

Hello Kenya!!!

Well, we survived Uganda and are in KENYA! Uganda was such a wonderful experience but I am really looking forward to the upcoming weeks. One big thing that God has been showing me is what it means to fear Him. I was having some quiet time at the village the other day and I crossed a verse that said something about fearing God. I realized that I really don’t know what it is to fear the Lord. I’ve heard the phrase before but I have never ran after it full force. But God said buckle up! He took me to Deut. 10 beginning in verse 12. The whole section is titled Fear the Lord in my...

How to Peel Cassava

It would seem odd to a Ugandan male to sit on the ground and peel cassava, but not to me. Connecting with the community of villagers in Morkabu through this everyday task gave me a glimpse in to what eternal servitude is. Thessalonians tells us to lead a quiet life, work with our hands, and win the respect of outsiders; the born again Christians in rural Uganda live this everyday. WIth God in their hearts and light in their eyes plowing begins early before the afternoon rain, and only for the keen of eye and awareness of heart can feel and see the existence of innocence that is still...
