Boy meets world, when he should have met God

Last week (the night of the 23rd, to be exact) was a night like any other night. Everyone had gone to bed, and I was still up just studying the word and praying. After dozing off for a couple minutes, I decided it was high time to hit the sack. Before I could though, I had to take care of some business. When nature calls while you are traveling, you answer. Or it will answer for you. So I grab some TP, my headlamp, and unlock the door and head to the squatty potty which is only a short walk from the house. Coming back, maybe 2 or 3 minutes later, I looked up and thought I saw the shadow of...

Walk on Water

So my last blog was a short summary of what we have done while here in Africa. Yesterday we arrived in Kenya and headed up to Nanyuki. After blogging we are headed out to the bush to minister to a Maasai village. While there we will do some evangelism and play with orphans. I’m expecting God to do some amazing things with our team and through me.       This past week my team went out into the village by Torroro, Uganda. I really liked it there because of the simplicity of life. As I talked with Pastor Francis he told me that they...

Anna’s Story

Anna’s Story   On Monday, we went evangelizng with our host pastor’s wife. The first home we went to was that of Anna. We sat with her for over an hour, hearing her story and telling her about Christ. Praise God that we had hope to offer her. You see, Anna is maybe 25, but doesn’t know her age. She was brought here from a primitive tribe that doesn’t record age by her husband many years ago. She’s as thin as a twig and lives in a room smaller than a small bedroom. She has 3 children, a 10 yr. old, 3 yr old, and 1 yr old. The baby is the skinniest...

Everything I Have Is His… But He is MINE, And The World Can Never Take That Away

2 nights ago the Lord really taught me a lesson on humility. I woke up yesterday morning to go outside to the bathroom and discovered my journals, my Bible, my money belt, and my passport sprawled out in the dirt. I was immediately concerned, because I knew that I had left all of these things safely packed away in my day pack in our living room. I opened my passport case to discover that my passport was safe, and everything was still in place with the exception of one of my debit cards. I went inside and my backpack was nowhere to be found. Megan also noticed that her camera was missing,...

God Works In Mysterious Ways

Its been two weeks now for our team in Uganda, and we’re heading to Kenya later today, for the Massi tribe!  But lets talk about what God did in Uganda, I could go on and on about the miraculous things God did and is still doing, but I can only pick one thing because i don’t have much time.  Well when we first got into Uganda we had to drop the other team off into the town of tororo, where they were going to be staying for 1 week, so our team got out with them and talked for a while, then prayed for eachother, then we parted ways.  When our team got to where we...

Untangled

10:30 pm. It’s dark outside and I have to go to the bathroom like none other. At home, that’s an easy fix. Roll out of bed, walk ten steps, do some business, and flop back into bed. But in the village of Morekebu, Uganda, what stands between me and sweet, sweet relief is a corn field and The Unknown. This is Africa. Crickets here are the size of a small car (which means the size of a computer mouse, no joke), spiders look like octopuses (giant butts and beady eyes), and all kinds of wild, roaming animals that could sneak attack at any given moment...
