Another Day, Another Adventure

“I’m beginning to wonder if what the church does to the people is the same thing the zoo does to the animals”.   Half a world away our team of 9 have made a home, we’ve made community, we’re experiencing the culture and we’re taking in the sights. Everyday we’ve met new people, eaten new food, seen new sights, have had our worlds completely rocked and have had our cultural norms and expectancies completely flipped on their heads. Homes have been opened to us and stories shared that we could have never imagined and laughs and smiles have filled...

I need Africa more than Africa needs me.

We are in Tororo! <3 This city is precious. The people are welcoming, humble, and love unconditionally. Being here for only a few days has already changed my perspective on basically everything. No matter how many words I use to describe this place, it would never be accurate. We have been partnering with Deliverance Church to do door to door evangelism and other types of ministry. This church has partnered with Compassion International, which is AWESOME! As soon as I found this out, I asked about my little sponsored boy, Nehemiah. He isn’t at this Compassion base, however. He is...

Right Where I Belong

I am in complete awe that God choose me to come and witness to those who are lost. Since the beginning of training camp, I’ve been open which is unnatural to me but definitely the way to be. I can not believe how easy it is to let God take control and to show people who I really am. It’s been an healing experience for me and I didn’t really expect it to be. I can’t believe I’m here serving God and His people, actually I can’t believe I made it here period. Now, every struggle and obstacle I’ve faced thus far makes complete sense. I’m not...

Safe and Sound!

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that after 20+ hours of flying, layovers, etc.. by way of Atlanta, Boston, Amsterdam and Entebbe we’re safely in Kampala, Uganda! Tonight the team is camping out in an African hostel and will be on our way tomorrow.   That’s all I can say now, we have 25 minutes before the computers shut down and there’s a line behind me for the computers, God is ready to do crazy things here and put us in crazy situations, including but not limited to     –Trekking the desert brush in Kenya with giraffes and all the other...

David and Goliath

So we did this thing where all 154 of us  got to speak Life into one another one night. soe stood in a circle and closed their eyes and another person would walk up to a random person and lay their hand on their shoulder then the person with their eyes closed prayed to hear a word from God for the person they didnt know was touching them. I was one with my eyes closed and when someone touch my shoulder I began to pray to receive something from God to tell them. It was my first time to do this but immediately I saw a big goofy looking Giant with a loin cloth holding a sign saying Hope...

The Easiest Thing to do is Nothing

Training Camp has been amazing. We leave in less than 30 minutes to head to the airport. The thought that I will be in Africa in less than 24 hours makes me SO excited. Probably the most excited I have ever been. Friday we met all the “Real Lifers” (Adventures In Missions name for College Aged Missionaries) at the airport. My specific team instantly bonded! From there we were off to a homeless shelter in downtown Atlanta for the night. There is 154 of us who are at training camp. All different teams going to all different places around the world from India, Israel, Bolivia,...
