A Heart of Worship

What is there even to say about all of this? My God is incredible. I love worshiping Him. Last week my team was in the village of Morekebu. The ministry was great and the people were amazing but it was a really hard week. Every day that we were there until the last day someone had to stay home sick. It was really difficult not having the whole team together to worship and grow together. I didn’t realize how significantly that had impacted me until we spent 15 hours traveling from Tororo, Uganda to Nanyuki, Kenya. Our first day in Kenya was really rough for me and I couldn’t find...

The Wedding of the Lamb Will Come

God is really big. His plan is perfect and amazing.  The more you learn about God the bigger He seems to appear.  I have been learning more about scripture the past few weeks and I am beginning to see God more and more.  My encouragement this week is to spend time seeking wisdom in scripture.  I have been focusing the last few weeks specifically on Romans.  I have found that if we continue to be complacent with our understanding of God, we could be missing something huge.  God has a very specific and important plan for us; it did not end with Christ.  The...

Counting the Cost (Muba’s Story)

Chemongesi Mubaraka is a nineteen year-old living in Tororo, Uganda. Mubaraka is a typical lower-class Ugandan youth. He works to help support his parents. He cannot afford education. He worries about his future. I met Mubaraka a few days ago. Lindsay, Megan, Keith, and I were going door-to-door sharing the Gospel and encouraging believers. Mubaraka was standing outside of a small shop on the outskirts of a residential neighborhood. We spoke to Muba for a few minutes and learned that he was Muslim. Muba shared with us that, in his eyes, Jesus and...

God in Uganda

Hey everyone, There is so much to say about our first week in Africa.  I have no idea where to even begin.  A few nights ago i heard a song that said, ”I no longer want to talk about God as if he is not in the room.”  This has definately been my experience in Uganda.  I have never seen God move through a room and through are team like He did the last night of training camp and He has continued to pursue us in Uganda.  God has definately been with us from day 1, beginning on the first day, as we went to battle with class 5 and 6 whitewater on the...

Evangelism in a New Culture

Hello friends! We have arrived safely in Tororo, Uganda! When we arrived at the church that is hosting us the women all came running and greeted us with a song and lots of clapping. It was an incredible way to start our time here. In this culture, these people feel so blessed that we have come such a long way to share Jesus with them. It is perfectly acceptable for us to walk into a neighborhood, gather a crowd and preach the gospel to them. And tons of people get saved that way. When I decided to go on the trip I was frustrated with the way ministry at home is so much a waiting game. All I...

Africa is my home…..

I am finally in Africa!!! After 6 months of preparing for this trip, I cannot believe I am finally here. As I sit here and think about being here with 7 other people I did not know a week ago, I get a bit overwhelmed. Never in my life did I see myself doing this. Honestly the only picture I had for my life was going to school, getting a job , getting married and raising a family. That is all I ever thought about. Going overseas and doing mission work was never part of MY plan. But here I am, getting ready to backpack for two months through Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania sharing the love of...
