Being Wasteful

We had a girl’s bible study with our lovely Pastor’s wife, Lillian yesterday. Her thoughts for us were simple, yet so profound for myself. She began by saying “why are you here?” and the cliche mission trip answers came to mind: sharing God’s love, helping people, etc. I mean, isn’t that obvious? She took it a step further by saying that if we are not winning souls, we are wasting Jesus’ blood and the price He paid. Well, I had never thought about it like that. Jesus died so that every single soul could spend eternity with Him. That gift is way too precious to waste and with that mindset, ministry looks different for me. Every single soul needs to be reached and not just during “appropriate ministry sessions.” We are responsible with sharing this gift with every person that we know and every soul that is reached is capable of reaching out to other souls. But it all starts with my choice to speak out and be the voice of God to people, both here in Africa and back in America. Why would I not want to share this amazing gift with every single person I know or meet? The song that says “I’m not ashamed of the one who saved my soul” is resonating through me and I am begging God to replace the fear in me with courage and passion and an overflowing heart to share God with people.
