Hardly the Begining

HOLOTYA!

Cheesy, but that means hello in Ugandan… the spelling is questionable :/

These past 10 days have been one never-ending rollercoaster. From arriving at the Entebbe Airport to sitting at an outdated computer in an internet cafe in Tororo, Uganda-I hate to say it, but its becoming one beautiful blur.
I don’t have a lot of time so I’ll make this brief.

As soon as we landed we experienced “Africa Time”…. oh, the waiting. At least a couple hours passed before we were once again on the move. And that’s when were first experienced “Africa Space” which meanse 12 people squeeze into a van that seats 6. Luckily we were packed in such a fashion, for the ride to our hostel for the night was not a smooth one.

Upon arrival, our sleepy sleves were surely awaken when we heard that we were to wake up early for a rafte trip on the Nile River!! I can honestly say that THAT was one of the coolest things I’ve done! (and I’m from Colorado, so that’s saying a lot) 🙂

Bus ride after bus ride, we got a good feel for Uganda’s colorful beauty. The wildlife too! On multiple occasions, our alarm clocks have been replaced by monkies scampering on our hostel rooves or roosters crowing just outside our window.

The food has been…. interesting! Very good sometimes, not so good others. But like they say, T.I.A.-unpredictability is all part of the African adventure.

Our team has been staying in Malaba, Uganda at an elementary school. It hasn’t been until recently that we’ve gotten the chance to get to know the area because the past week we’ve done ministries in Kataboy (again, spelling’s questionable), a village a few miles away. I love it there. It’s stunning. The people are amazing too; I’ve found more love in this small village with less than 100 dwellers than in my home town with more than 10,000 dwellers.
It’s hardly the begining, and God’s doing amazing things, and I look forward to seeing the next things to come!

Your’s truly,
Julia 🙂

PS: don’t mind my misspellings and bad punctuation-this was rushed!
