I am finally able to write a blog!! I was hoping to write one last week before we left Uganda, but the internet was not cooperating. But here I am, sitting in a stuffy internet cafe in Bungoma, Kenya. What a blessing to be in this place. Some highlights from my time in Uganda:
1. Drinking a Coke under the twinkling stars (they literally twinkle here, it’s incredible) with these amazing people God has placed in my life.
2. Riding four on the small boda boda (motorized bike) to and from town, exploring the market.
3. Being alone before the Lord-broken and hearing from Him. A time of refining.
4. Worshipping barefoot on the red African dirt under the stars with my team.
5. Learning new things about the Lord every day.
6. Painting hundreds of tiny fingernails in the middle of a crowd of giggling children.
7. Experiencing an African concert, and the dancing that came with it 🙂
8. Finding my purpose and job as part of this team.
9. Hospital ministry, being filled with strength and love for each person I prayed over.
10. All time favorite: seeing people come to know and trust in Jesus as their Lord. People who were once Muslim are now praising Jesus. The lost are found. The broken are being mended. The Lord moved in Uganda, and is proving to do so here in Kenya as well.
The Lord is so alive in Africa, He is so loud here. One thing that He has continually taught me during my time here is that He is the same God here as He is at home. And these people, they are just like you and me. They go through difficult situations, struggles and temptations. They have joy and hope and love to give. We are all the same. The Lord can use us all, and I have seem Him do so firsthand. It does not matter if you are in the heart of Africa or in the middle of no where North Dakota–God wants to use you right where you are. He wants to use you to show His power, the key is to choose to let Him. Choose to let Him speak to you and through you, choose to go out of your way to portray His love and character to somebody who needs it. God can use small things that we do everyday to impact somebody else in an extremely large way. So wherever you are, be encouraged today-because the Lord wants to use you and speak to you and move powerfully through you.
We will be doing ministry here in Bungoma until July 11th (I think?) and then we’re heading to Tanzania! Please keep us in your prayers as we work in different areas of ministry and tell others about the love of Christ. You’re prayers are so appreciated and are felt each and every day as we see the Lord working so powerfully here!
