Short and Sweet

Bobo (what’s up) from Zomba, Malawi. So Zomba is pretty much the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Our front porch view is of a magnificent mountain (I’m taking sooooooooo many pictures.) But the untouched landscape is not the only beautiful thing here in Malawi. The people and their simplistic lifestyle are beyond beautiful. The houses here are small (and perfect) and the roads are made of dirt (which makes them an adventure.) EVERYTHING HERE IS JUST SO FULL OF LIFE!!!! Not only is the life here in the people and scenery aesthetically pleasing, it fills me with a different...

the gate.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that my favourite type of ministry is always anything to do with kids.   We have been in Zomba for about a week and I have fallen in love with Malawi. This place is incredible. The simplicity of life, the beautiful scenery, mountains and lush greenery takes my breath away, every day. Pastor Gama and his wife, Mama Rose have taken us in and treat us like family. We are so blessed.   Although we haven’t been doing as much ministry as we had expected, our “down” time has brought my favourite moments, what I refer to as “gate...

Ministry in Zomba

Hello from Zomba, Malawi!                         Every morning when I get up I am reminded of the fact that I am in Africa. By the squatty to pee in, to the Chombe tea, to the heat and scenery of mountains surrounding me as I do my morning devotions. This is Africa, and it could not be any better.             We arrived in Zomba last Tuesday after a bumpy 6 hour bus ride from Lilongwe. Upon reaching Zomba I was blown away by...

Finding a Home

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to PROCLAIM good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to PROCLAIM freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” Isaiah 61:1.   When I read this scripture over my life, I honestly fear God. He is the Maker of Heaven, King of Kings, Most High, and he has chosen me… of all people!   I’m anointed to proclaim good news. I’m anointed to proclaim freedom for captives. To know that God trusts me to be his hands and feet absolutely...

Unity

Family and Friends,                 Africa is absolutely beautiful, the scenery, weather, the people, culture, and much more.  (Words won’t fully express the beauty). I’m so joyful to be here! & extremely thankful, thanks again to all who have been supportive and encouraging! Glory is to God, for you and your giving hearts, I am deeply grateful.  (It’s hard to believe it’s only been 2 weeks!!) I’ve already grown so much, growing and learning as God continues to open my heart and...

Options

After really living African life for the past week in Zomba, Malawi, I've realized that we have so many options in America…options you don't even think about. First of all, we all automatically get free schooling. Many African families have to decide if they want to send a child to school, or eat. They have no extra Kwacha to spend on any other options…not like they have many other ones to begin with. Parents often have to make the tough decision of choosing only 1 or 2 out of their 6 children that will get educated. Some local siblings, Grenis and Gradson, are in that...
