He brings Beauty from the Ashes

I said my final goodbyes and anxiously made my way towards my gate. Not long after, I was able to board the plane that would be taking me to Atlanta, Georgia. As the plane was getting closer to landing, I couldn’t contain my excitement- I was going to be meeting up with my team soon! I honestly couldn’t stop smiling (someone seated nearby on the plane had noticed how happy I was and had to ask me why)! When I met up with my team, I knew this is exactly where I belonged.   When I heard that training in Georgia (before being sent off to Africa) would only last 4 days, I...

New Begennings

Tomorrow morning we leave for the airport and are on the plane headed to Africa.  I can not wait!  Coming into this trip I didnt really know what to expect.  All I knew is that we were a team of all girls which was pretty amazing and boy was I right.  These ladies in my group are so precious! It has only been a few days and already we are like sisters. This training camp has been such a great experience and has really prepared me for the mission field.  I am so excited to take the things I learned here and use them as I minister to the people in Africa.  These...

Prept and Ready To Go

I wasn't really sure what to expect about training camp. Many people asked "Why training camp?, What's that?" I had no idea. But training camp has been amazing. In the 4 short days I've already seen so much change in myself. God is working in me to not only get me ready for going out on the field but for the rest of my life.     We are now at the last day of camp! We leave in the morning and I couldn't be more excited. All of my worry has gone away about this trip. Things I already knew about God were reminded to me and new...

Sandy sleeping bags, hysterical laughing, and crazy good WORSHIP!

Training camp. Oooooh training camp. This "camp" went from a 4-day, necessary, mandatory part of me getting to Africa to an experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. In reality it's only been 3 and a half days however it feels like 3 and a half WEEKS have gone by. So firstly, my GIRLS- my teammates, who already are starting to feel like sisters. (I know this sounds strange due to only knowing these people for 3 days but our connections are moving freakishly fast)  The best part is that I know God has blessed me with placing every single one of these...

The End Of A New Beginning!

To say that I had no expectations coming to training camp would be silly. I expected to be sleeping in our tents the WHOLE time, to be crammed with as much information about our countries as could possibly fit, and to have to trudge around carrying our packs for miles. While none of those exact things happened, we did a differen version of each.      The first night of camp we were told that we out of all of the things that we brought we were to go and get 3 items that we would have for the rest of the night. Then we were told that we were going to make a shelter with...

The Spirit of Adventure

I can't describe how wonderful the past few days have been!! The hours of waiting in the Atlanta airport (seriously…6 hours) were definitely worth it, my team, my leaders, and training camp have been amazing. As each girl arrived at the Atrium, I got more and more excited. Each team member felt like they had something unique to offer to the team.      The different activities and excercises we've been doing at training camp have been strengthening the bond within our team and also within me. I can feel God working within us and his...
