Come to me America

First off, I apologize for my lack of blogging; I am no avid writer. I prefer conversations; Its hard for me to put into a few short words the whole of my experiences and thoughts and emotions, but I shall try.    We are at the end of the road here in Africa, but in reality we are just coming to an intersection where we choose a direction to take.  I cannot express the ways the Lord has changed me and grown me, mainly because  I am not even sure yet myself, but it would be wrong to assume I am the same person who walked into training camp at the beginning of this...

The End of a Chapter.

For as long as I can remember Africa has been my goal.  Actually being here has been monumental in my life.  It has been such a huge dream for me, and looking back on the last two months almost feels like one–a dream.  Like it happened in a split second, or not at all.  It’s really the weirdest feeling coming to the realization that I did just spend two months in three of the most beautiful countries in Africa.  That it wasn’t a dream, but a reality.  And as I get on that plane to head home tomorrow night, I will be leaving such a large part...

There are NO goodbyes, only “see you laters”.

“If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.”   Oh Africa. Where do I even begin?   These last two months have been amazing. Crazy hard. Sweetly broken. and just plain BEAUTIFUL. In the words of a dear friend “I am just in this crazy season. It has been a difficult season… a season of being still before my Lord and listening. It has been a season of really clinging to the promise of Romans 8:28 and BELIEVING it. It has been a season that has left my pillow wet with tears, but has also caused my feet to dance in praise. It has been a season of...

Cha-ching! Time for Change

God you make beautiful things out of us.  You make us new.  SO who am I to doubt what you tell us or ask us to do? You have the blue prints to our lives.  We are still being built, so why do we question the grand plan?  Why do we mess up our lives?  WE are the ones putting the cracks in the walls.  IF we just listened we would be made without any cracks.  SO who am I to think I am in control of my life? I don’t even know the plans you have for me…...

Considering the Unexplainable Joy of Unexpected Mission.

What if, by our standards, a vision…an endeavor…or mission fails completely? Does that deem it a failure in the eyes of God? Let’s be honest.  This is Expeditions.  That means long treks, squeezing into “two man” tents, never enough to eat…  At least, each of us had thought, myself included.  Yes, I am a leader, but since we’re being honest, when we arrived in Mbeya, Tanzania after the most lovely weekend drive around the countryside, I was secretly fuming inside that we were, once again, sleeping in beds.  Three months...

Electricity Cont.

So, if you read my last blog, you will know that my time with hospital ministry in Kenya was very interesting. I only got to pray for a few people, and had to leave without knowing if anything came of it. But a few days later God blew me away with a response to my short time in prayer!       As we went out one morning for door to door ministry, a woman came up to my translator, Elica, and said that she HAD to talk to me. As she started to speak, I was given the most incredible gift! She said that she recognized me from the hospital…I had fainted while I was...
