Supremacy

Our host home is beautiful and cozy, but not exactly spacious.  We all cram into the family room to have some time together at nights which is wonderful and necessary, but I am a huge ball of sweat at the end.  One night I just needed to get some fresh air and some peace, so I went out into the little compound thing to just sit.  It was dark out and the stars were shining.  I look up at the expanse of the sky and just ask the Lord to bring peace to my stirring soul.  I was simply just trying to rest in the Lord, but I was being distracted.  The house next door...

Mzungu? yes i know…

I am a mzungu. I have been reassured of this fact hundreds of times in my time so far in Uganda. Everywhere we go we are called mzungus over and over. I love it. Sometimes I will call the locals mzungus because I love the confused look they give :). So Uganda has been a blessing so far as we begin to look at our final week before moving on to Kenya. The pastor and family we are staying with are so kind. They make us way too much food, wash our clothes, and are kind every minute of every day. It is fun to engage in tickle fights with the two little girls Rachel and Debra at the end of the...

12 points for the mzungu

You make beauty from our ashes and a hope that’s everlasting.  the past has been redeemed  now forever we will sing You can make all things new only Your power can raise us You can make all things new only Your love can save us all hope is not lost YOU MAKE ALL THINGS NEW   I came here expecting God to do BIG things. Yet even with those expectations, He has surpassed them. I came while in the darkness, with no direction, no guidance, no intimacy, no passion….apathetic. But in these short 2 weeks, God has called me out of the darkness and into a season of...

I’ve been HEALED!

Yes, you read it, I’ve been healed. Now I’m sure that you are wondering what I’ve been healed from?! Car Sickness. haha. Africans have a COMPLETELY new way of driving. It commonly involves very high speeds, driving on all sides of the road, and ALMOST wrecking on the regular. Africa has also healed me of my fear of vomit and of turkeys. but that is another story for another time. Hahaha.   Uganda…where do I even begin. Well, for starters, it is NOTHING like the commercials depict. It is by far one of the most beautiful, broken places that I have ever seen....

Worship, Praise, Dance, and the Nile??

Today has been the best day for the spirit working for me. We went to Bethel School and did a service for them. Last night I was up till 4 am just dancing in the living room and praying. I had a whole dance come to my head and oh it was wonderful. So I did it at the school for the kids. They seemed to love it. I felt like it wasn’t my best dance but it was so heartfelt. I knew God was working through me and that is all that matters. I am totally in love with worshiping God in dance. And I have found that I feel so much closer to him...

Captured my heart

What has now become a blog was originally an email I started writing this morning to my dad. As I reread the email I saw how much it explained about my spiritual journey and wanted to share. Dad, I’m sitting in the living room at my home and it feels like I have a golf ball in my throat. Maybe I want to cry, which would be know surprise at all knowing how deeply I feel things. However, I’m not able to pin point my current emotion. Am I sad? Am I heavy hearted? Am I so overwhelmed with how God works that I can’t do anything but cry? Am I scared? Am I joyful? The...
