Strength in Christ

I’m having a difficult time knowing where to start this blog after all I have experienced these last few days.  God has proved faithful in our time in Mbarara, Uganda, and I am continually amazed at His provision and guidance.  We have amazing hosts, Pastor Solomon and his wife Lillian, who have provided us with a place to stay and 3 meals a day. I have been amazed at how the Lord works.  I cannot even begin to describe all that I have learned by living here.  We have no electricity, no toilets, no running water, and I am more content than I have ever been in my...

United in Faith

What a great 13 days it has been! God is so wonderful! I can’t wait to see what He has in store for the rest of this trip! I love to worship with the people here in Mbarara, Uganda. They have such a beautiful faith and love for God. It is a great reminder that God is everywhere and speaks all languages .He does not care where you are from or how you look or what you sound like. We can always be sure that when we are going some where to spread the gospel we will find some sort of unity because of our faith. God is everywhere in this country and it is so amazing! Everyone is very...

Wow! That Was Fast

There is so much that has happened over the past week. I don’t even know where to begin. I guess I’ll start with when we got here. So we leave the airport and ride an hour or so to a hostel where we are staying. When we get there, they don’t have us on the books so we camp out that night. Next day, we wake up early and go white water rafting in the Nile. It was crazy! That night we stay in a nice little resort where it only cost $10 a night to stay and we have some the best spaghetti I’ve ever eaten. The next morning we wake up and go bungee jumping. I managed to go...

Thankful

In Mbarara, Uganda, they wake up by the rooster crow and with the sun. Probably the same rooster that will be for dinner, if they’re lucky enough to have meat. I am privileged  to be able to live life with them for a few weeks. Our week started with a powerful five hour long church service Sunday morning. Our team preached and did a few songs, and then Pastor Solomon  preached and their worship team showed us what traditional African worship looked like. Needless to say, it was good  morning cardio. Yesterday and today, we started school ministry. Beth and I have an...

break my heart for what breaks yours

Day 5 Mbarara, Uganda   Lord you are mighty, you capture my heart time and time again. The moment I first heard your name I fell deeply in love with you.   Reflect on these words as I have, for the Lord is mighty.    Where do I begin… The Lord has truly shown up here in Mbarara. His grace and mercy has never been more evident. I woke several times this weak in prayer, waring for his people. The Lord has chosen Africa to do great things, these people cry out and desperately seek to know him. Being here, you cant help but reflect on your own personal walk...

Being Wasteful

We had a girl’s bible study with our lovely Pastor’s wife, Lillian yesterday. Her thoughts for us were simple, yet so profound for myself. She began by saying “why are you here?” and the cliche mission trip answers came to mind: sharing God’s love, helping people, etc. I mean, isn’t that obvious? She took it a step further by saying that if we are not winning souls, we are wasting Jesus’ blood and the price He paid. Well, I had never thought about it like that. Jesus died so that every single soul could spend eternity with Him. That gift is way too...
