dreams really do come true…

We all have dreams. Sometimes they seem so impossible that we don’t actually believe that they’ll come true.

Coming to Africa was a dream of mine..and God provided and made a way for me to come. I’ve seen people delivered from all sorts of things. Demons casted out of people. The sick healed. We loved on the outcasts of communities. Spent our days with children who only got one meal a day and who were taking care of households at the age of 7. Cared for newborn babies who were in the process of being adopted. Prepared meals for 5,000 people in one day. Saw unspeakable Joy in intellectually challenged adults who changed our life. And much, much, much more.

Ever since I started leading worship, I’ve always dreamed of leading worship for a church like Hillsong, Passion, Gateway, or Bethel. I’ve actually never really told anyone this simply for the fact of not wanting the wrong message to come across. (Shouldn’t be anything to worry about, I know…but The Lord has worked on my heart about this).

Let me give a little back story about the next part of this blog so that you can better understand what’s going on.

Last month, in Swaziland, I had a dream that when we came to Cape Town, we went to a service at Hillsong and after service I went up and asked them how possible it’d be to sing with them for a service while I was there. They told me that I could and that I could be on the next week! I woke up and told Andy and Carmella (our leaders on this trip) and they both were all about making it happen!

Finally when we reached Cape Town and we found out that going to the church was going to be very possible in general, I immediately got butterflies and “God-bumps” (goosebumps) 🙂 The Sunday finally came that we actually got to go to church, and everyone was so pumped to see that my dream would come true! After the service, I met several people who were SO eager to help me and get me connected with the right people, that I already knew that The Lord was working something up1 As we were leaving, I met Warren, who is over all the worship teams at this location. He told me that it was super possible for me to sing with them! He said that they believe in people living out their callings and working in the gifts that The Lord has given them! He told me who to get in contact with that week, because he was going to be leading at a different campus and wouldn’t be there, and so I then got in contact with the right people and was invited to come and sing with them!

Since I didn’t get in contact with them soon enough, I wasn’t able to actually lead anything but I was told that they make their roster out for every two weeks, and that if I come back to let them know in advance, and I could possibly be on to lead with them! (SO cool, right) They still allowed me to sing with the worship teams choir. This choir consisted of current members of the worship team (who aren’t rostered for that particular service) plus a few other people who sing background vocals and who are waiting to audition for the “frontline”. This week they were preparing for a double worship night called Touching Heaven. Practice was Thursday night and let me tell you, it was the most incredible worship practice that I’ve EVER been a part of! Not because it was Hillsong, but because it was a Spirit-led practice as well! I learned so much other practical stuff that a worship leader should know that I didn’t know before! My mind was blown away by some of the stuff they taught me! I won’t go into detail here, but if you’d like to know, let me know!

Sunday came, and honestly words cannot describe just how incredible it felt to have a literal dream come true! The people that I meet this week are honestly some of the most genuine people that I’ve ever met. Being able to stay in touch will them when I go back to the states, will be a huge blessing! And to know that if I come back to  Cape Town (praying about returning, by the way) that I’d be welcomed with open arms into such a great community of hungry believers is so satisfying.

While I’m not actually a “worship leader” for any of these churches, please know that the door that God opened this week was just as incredible of an opportunity for me.  I now have made relationships with people who I would’ve never imagined I’d ever get to meet and be involved in their ministry! Even if it is only for one Sunday, I’ll always remember the day that I realized that my dream of actually leading worship for a church like that would come true. If God opened this door, I can’t wait to see what’s next!

If you have a dream….don’t ever think that it’s impossible for it to come true! Our God is SO good and if it’s in His will, He will allow it to happen, and He’ll open the doors that should be opened and close the ones that should be closed! He will allow people to come into your life that you need, and He’ll allow peace to let ones goes that should go. Hold your head high.

Go. You have a dream to fulfill. It’s possible.
