“The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power”
1 Corinthians 4:20
This verse has been pressing on me for these last couple days at camp. I wasn’t entirely sure why this resonated with me so strongly…of course we all believe that the Kingdom of God is about more than talking–that’s why we’re all here! A group of crazy college kids getting ready to walk in truth and spread truth.
But I’ve seen this verse is about more than simply ‘walking the walk’, so to speak, but that, in walking, the power of God comes with us. With me. Every step that we’ll take in these next two months–steps with a 40-pound backpack, steps in cities, in airports, in deserts and hospitals and orphanages, these steps that we’re taking are steps of men and women who hold the power to bring the news of Jesus and the redemption and restoration in His name. We have the power to be weak in Christ, and in that weakness, to be absurdly strong.
Tomorrow morning we’ll start off on our way to Uganda, and our steps will be in power, and that power will bring the Kingdom of God.
