The five C’s of Tororo

Cockroaches, Chicken, Children, Cola, and Church Well my friends,  this is Africa, TIA… Cockroaches- lots of them. Chickens- we’ve slaughtered them, not killed them. Yes, there’s a difference. Children- too cute. Cola- coke keeps me chuggin. Church-  we’re working with the Deliverance Church of Tororo in Uganda. Today, I gave the sermon.  It proved to be challenging communicating with a translator. But hey, all praise and glory to God!! Ministry thus far has been predominantly door to door evangelizing, and prayer.  It seems to by the best way to...

African Fever

It has been a crazy but amazing ride so far. God has really been working in and through me and my team. We arrived in Uganda on the 17th. When we first got there we ended up just sleeping in our tents at local hostel. Then the next day we got to go white water rafting in the Nile River. That was such an amazing experience. Seeing the beautiful landscape of Africa. was really crazy was just as we would go down the river just seeing the people on the side of the river bank, seeing the kids and and their homes. Its crazy to think that there are people who really do live their lives like...

Knocked Out in The Nile

Finally seeing how dreadfully slow this internet actually is here makes me question how lengthy my blogs will end up being, but oh well…here goes nothing. So we are in Africa. WHAT?! To say it hasn’t hit me yet would be a lie. Not only did we marvel at it, we rafted down it! How many 18 year old girls can say that? Probably not many more than the ones on this trip. Anyway, I guess I should begin diving into...

Hellotoya!

Habari! I’ve been looking forward to blogging all week because of the excitement of sharing some of the amazing adventures I’ve already had here in Africa.  So far I’ve rafted the Nile, which I think is maybe one of the coolest things I will ever be able to claim to my name. It was slightly terrifying , but incredibly invigorating. Right now my team and I are sleeping in a school.  We do door to door ministry daily, but have also done children and discipleship seminars. The people of Uganda are wonderful. They are heartbreakingly welcoming, and have already...

Spiritual Hunger.

This is Africa.    “I am the Lord your God, who teaches what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go” -Isaiah 48:17   Beautiful Uganda, my heart beats for you. When people see poverty, I see prosperity. When people see brokenness, I see hope. When people see sickness, I see restoration. When people see starvation, I see abundance. When people see darkness, I see Jesus.    And so my heart continues to beat for the lost ones.   As we travel from village to village, people encouragingly welcome us into their huts and we tell...
