Feels like family

The past three days in Georgia have been spent growing closer to the Lord and getting ready to spread His word in Africa with the amazing group of people who will be my family over the next 4 months. Training camp has been an intense, albeit, incredible experience and AIM has done a fantastic job in cultivating a community of believers who encourage and lift each other up in Christ. I feel like I have already made tremendous strides in my walk with the Lord and we haven’t even left the country yet. We’ll be leaving for Uganda tomorrow and prayers for safety would...

Flight Day Eve

Hey everyone! I’m just giving you a heads up from training camp. Today’s the day before our 20+ hour flight–the flight that is the last thing standing between me and Africa. I can honestly say that I have not experienced a more drawn out three day period! It feels like we’ve spent three weeks here in the woods of Georgia. It’s definitely tested my patience, but more than that, it’s tested my faith.   I will be honest when I say that I was a bit skeptical of how I’d fit in with this “very Christian” environment… or at least I...

Roar of Training Camp

3 days have passed since we have come to training camp here in Georgia. It gives me goosebumps to think that we are leaving for Africa TOMMOROW!!! Coming into training camp I wasn’t sure what it would be like, my expectations were minimal. But in the very first moment of entering the airport atrium and seeing the faces that I would be seeing in the next 4 months something clicked. Fear, nervousness, any thoughts of the unknown have been reduced because of my wonderful team, and the time we have spent here. We have had intense periods of worship, bonding with our team, and meetings...

These feet were made for walkin’

note: this is Abby on Megan’s profile … still lost my password 🙂   This week in Moshi has really flown by, I can’t believe that our time here is almost over…. and that a week from today we’ll be leaving East Africa for America. As I was thinking about this the other day, I had my head in my lap and was looking at my (mosquito-bitten) feet. God started to help me think back on all the places He’s taken these feet this summer. Playing tag with kids in Kwapa (the bush) Uganda, to the busy streets of Tororo, up hills and on top of rocks to watch the...

One Day Blind

Walk by faith and not by sight. Easy, right? I definitely thought so. I thought I knew completely what it meant to walk by faith and not by sight.. I mean after all, here I was in Africa… following the Lord and the plan that He has for me here, trusting that He knows what He’s doing when I don’t. I walk by faith. God has definitely been stretching what I “know” about walking by faith and not by sight. He literally took away my sight. Yep. I spent July 21st completely blind. Well, kind of. You see, I have absolutely TERRIBLE vision… like...
