My prayers are with you

Brothers and Sisters, Colossians 2 speaks for my heart right now, “For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ. Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”   Though at times...

Ewaso, you’ve captured my heart.

I did not expect to come to Africa and feel like I am absolutely supposed to come back.  I didn’t expect to fall in love with the Maasai people. Or squatty potties. [Well, I wouldn’t say I LOVE squatty potties but they make life easier.] I didn’t expect leaving the Maasai to make me wish I was going home more than anything instead of doing 2 more weeks of ministry. I didn’t expect to be the first person to tell the Maasai women that they are valuable and that God wants to use THEM to advance His kingdom, much less to have such an incredible spiritual bond of...

Faith, Doubt, and Miracles

I can’t say how many times in my life I’ve thought to myself: God, if you would just show me a miracle, then I would believe.  I listen to the doubt in my head as i pray for miracles half heartedly, giving myself room to excuse God if He doesn’t follow through.  During this trip I’ve seen miracles. But none greater than the miracle I overlook daily.    I’ve realised something.  When we approach God saying, “then I would believe” the sad thing is, God knows we wouldn’t.  After Jesus died many people, like...

Even As I Am Fully Known

When I began to write this blog, I was going to write about one of the awesome encounters with God that I have experienced in east Africa this summer. God has worked miracles on this trip, and revealed Himself to me in mighty ways: in the bush outside of Nanyuki, Kenya while going “west”, through a Java House auditor named Kaisine, in the heart of a night guard in Nairobi who asked the simple question of  “Why would Jesus weep?” and many more. God has been moving. This sounds vague, doesn’t it? I intended on telling the story of the aforementioned night...

Never Going Back

Wow….so where do I even begin? The past few weeks in Kenya have been some of the hardest, most life changing weeks of my life. I have been broken and completely overwhelmed by God and His power. For the past 2 weeks, the team has been camping out in the Bush with the Masaai tribe. It was an amazing experience for me and I have learned so much. But I think what I would like to tell you about is what God has done just in the past few days while I have been in Nairobi…..   Well after being in the bush for 9 days with no way to shower, wash clothes, or make any contact with the...
