A Test of Faith

This past week we have done 2 days of hospital ministry, 1 day of street ministry, 1 day of school ministry as well as a night church service.  We were able to climb Tororo mountain yesterday which was amazing, because once we arrived at the top we could see out over all the different villages we have worked in and just pray over them and see the beauty of God’s creation.   We also moved villages to a remote bush village about 40 minutes outside of Tororo yesterday and are getting adjusted to our new surroundings.         The hardest...

Floating Down the Nile Without A Boat Part 2

As I let the river take me farther down the river and closer to the roaring sounds of the rapids I realize this is probably not the best idea I’ve ever had. I could just see the look on my mother’s face if I had to call home and tell her I had broken a bunch of bones because I jumped into the Nile without a helmet on and then decided to not get back in the boat. So I turn around and start swimming as hard as I possibly could, not really knowing where this strength was coming from at this point because I had been struggling for a good 15-20 minutes...

Floating Down the Nile Without A Boat

So Day one we land in Uganda and we arrive at our campsite at 2 am and stumble through the darkness to pitch our tents and find our pillows just in time to not pass out on the dirt. We arise the next morning to the fun realization that we as leaders finally get to tell our teams that we are going to white water raft on the Nile River for the rest of the day!!    We arrive at the Nile early in the morning and are told to bring nothing with us, not even shoes, except lots of sunscreen.  We have a light breakfast and then get in groups of 8 and head down the...

Dancing with Joy

Well, this is new. I haven’t had a diary in a long while so I will just do my best with this whole blogging thing. What did I expect out of training camp? HA. I had actually looked at a World Race training camp blog before I camp here; I saw fish head soup, tents and a lot of hiking. That didn’t seem so bad at first besides the fish head soup, but then we got to Atlanta and I realized it was still freezing down here, so the idea of tents and hiking began to bring worry as well. However, when I got to the camp I was relieved to recieve normal food, a cabin to sleep in, and...

Fill’ er Up

As most of you know, before I can start my fantastic adventure to Africa, I had to first come to training camp in Georgia. I’m not sure why, but I just kind of thought that it would be one of those typical get to know your teammates and listen to some lectures kind of thing. Basically, just a few more boring days in the states standing between me and Africa. Well, that was a bit of a fail! I didn’t even realize that perhaps I needed to learn a little something before I could jump right into such a huge endeavor One of our speakers taught about our need to surrender some things...

Um, what, wait?

“A man’s steps are directed by the Lord.  How then can anyone understand his own way?” –Proverbs 20:24 This has rocked my world. I can’t even fathom the fact that God has created the universe, what makes me think I can begin to understand what the Lord has in store for me?  I can honestly say that training camp has not been at all what I thought it was going to be.  I’m not even sure I knew what it would be though.  I’ve learned more about myself in the last 3 days then I ever thought possible.  I’m already learning...
