The Spirit of Adventure

I can't describe how wonderful the past few days have been!! The hours of waiting in the Atlanta airport (seriously…6 hours) were definitely worth it, my team, my leaders, and training camp have been amazing. As each girl arrived at the Atrium, I got more and more excited. Each team member felt like they had something unique to offer to the team.      The different activities and excercises we've been doing at training camp have been strengthening the bond within our team and also within me. I can feel God working within us and his...

Of Holding On and Letting Go (A Somewhat Late Last Blog)

From the moment I first got on a plane leaving New Mexico to head to my training camp in Atlanta to the moment I stepped onto the plane that would bring me back home to New Mexico…I had the same vision of how I would look back on this trip. I imagined the surrealness and confusion, the "what just happened?" feeling in my heart. I (like a teammate whose blog I just read) felt like this whole experience would seem as if it had been one long dream. That it would feel as though it only existed in my imagniation, or maybe it wouldn't feel like it existed at all. I imagined...

Grace

God thank you for being gracious and bringing me on the field in a days notice. You're always providing for me and reminding me of Your faithfulness, though I don't deserve it. I'm back on a plane. This time I'm headed 'home' only it doesn't feel like going home. For the first time in my life- I don't feel like I have a home. I know God is calling me to be mobile and in that I have peace. Going from Kenya to Tanzania was a hard transition, leaving behind a ministry and group of people I quickly fell in love with. All of this, only to end up in a place...

Home Sweet Home??

Well back in America, on my own bed for the first time… How strange it is to be here. I just spent the last 2 months with the most amazing people ever. Now I am home in an unfamilure place. So really where is home?? Answer to that is: Where God takes me. But to be back in America feels unfamilure and odd. I miss the smells of Africa, and the people we encountered. The family that I gained is now all back to their homes and lives. So time moves on and so does our lives. But one thing I am sure of is how I now have a new family that even though we are not together all the time we will...

A [late] blog from Africa

Looking back on this journey, one of the most memorable moments of the trip was the three days of travel before arriving at Sungawomba, Tanzania. Although I thought I would never make it, traveling for sixty two hours on a charter bus, I found that the trek through Tanzania was a lot like my journey here in Africa. Sure, mile after mile of dirt roads and pot holes was rough and exhausting, but it turned out to be the most beautiful ride of my life. Driving through Tanzania I saw things that most people can only dream of. Of course there were wild giraffes, zebras, antelope, baboons and...

Just Do It

I sincerly apologize to everyone for my lack of blogs during this expedition through Eastern Africa, hopefully this blog can sum up how this entire trip has impacted my life. I have come to discover that to have true fellowship with our savior we need to be willing to fellowship with him. What does this mean? First, let me tell you what it is not. It is not having Jesus as someone who you look up to as a role model and choose to classify yourself as a Christian simply because you are a fan of who Jesus was, what he said, or what he did. No, having fellowship with him is a much more intimate...
