Heading back out…

So after a wonderful three day run around in Nairobi that included a tattoo, nose piercing, and who knows how many miles of walking around the big city, we are heading out to the Kenyan bush. We’ve been told that even the leaders know very little about the ministry that’s going to happen. I am so excited! I feel like this is really going to prepare us for Tanzania and the ATL (ask the lord) month that is coming up.  Uganda was great. It amazes me every day to be surrounded by such a genuine and hospitable people group. My heart has been broken for the conditions some of...

Untitled

In the course of the last month in a half, my heart has experienced more pain and sadness then it has joy and happiness.  I’ve been questioning whether or not I made the right decision by coming on the trip.  While being here, nothing has seemed to been what I imagined and the worst part is I’m unable to have the comfort of my family along side me.     Before embarking on this journey I was an incredibly lonely person.  I had lost a lot of friends and I was trying to figure out the direction of my life. Breaking my heart for what breaks His

It’s hard to believe that my first month in Africa is over.  It’s crazy to think our time here in Uganda is over.  We leave for Kenya tomorrow and while I’m so excited for what Kenya has instore, pieces of my heart will be left here in Tororo, Uganda. Uganda Beauty

The past month in Uganda has come with a variety of exciting experiences, twists, ups, downs, God moments, and just plain beauty. The stars at night shine brighter then I have ever seen. The sunrises during our morning runs, and the sunsets at night are always a display of God’s artwork. My heart is with these children here, who will chase our car as it goes by, and who yell Muzungu! The people who we have met have astounded me with their faith, God is who they hold onto in all times of hardship. Hardship. Something that I thought I had some sort of idea of before coming here, but...

The Rains in Africa

The other day I was sitting in the overbearing Ugandan sun, fighting the discomfort of the blistering asphalt, and was wondering, with a slight edge, why God had sent me to Africa.  Within moments, the air began to cool and dark clouds began to crowd the sky.  The rain that followed was short and light.  However, the few drops that blessed my skin surged in me a new hope and purpose.  I heard God say that the state of desperation that holds Uganda is as stifling as the hot sun that pours over this land.  The country needs hope.  The country needs to be...
