Travel the road.

Hey family and friends! I’m so excited to share my stories when I get home! For now I just want to say that I’m settling in. This first week or so was really a struggle for me. I began t question if I made the right choice in coming here. I was really missing home and our western comforts. But then, on our last day of ministry in the village of Cataboy, we spent two hours at a local villagers home doing a prolonged version of the door to door ministry we’d been doing all week. I felt like we really connected with the people we were talking to! Later that day we had a...

Floating Down the Nile Without A Boat

So Day one we land in Uganda and we arrive at our campsite at 2 am and stumble through the darkness to pitch our tents and find our pillows just in time to not pass out on the dirt. We arise the next morning to the fun realization that we as leaders finally get to tell our teams that we are going to white water raft on the Nile River for the rest of the day!!    We arrive at the Nile early in the morning and are told to bring nothing with us, not even shoes, except lots of sunscreen.  We have a light breakfast and then get in groups of 8 and head down the...

Knocked Out in The Nile

Finally seeing how dreadfully slow this internet actually is here makes me question how lengthy my blogs will end up being, but oh well…here goes nothing. So we are in Africa. WHAT?! To say it hasn’t hit me yet would be a lie. I think that time truly passed when I woke up to the sound of monkeys everywhere, and then there was really no escaping the reality of it once we came in sight of the Nile. Not only did we marvel at it, we rafted down it! How many 18 year old girls can say that? Probably not many more than the ones on this trip. Anyway, I guess I should begin diving into...

Spiritual Hunger.

This is Africa.    “I am the Lord your God, who teaches what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go” -Isaiah 48:17   Beautiful Uganda, my heart beats for you. When people see poverty, I see prosperity. When people see brokenness, I see hope. When people see sickness, I see restoration. When people see starvation, I see abundance. When people see darkness, I see Jesus.    And so my heart continues to beat for the lost ones.   As we travel from village to village, people encouragingly welcome us into their huts and we tell...

Hardly the Begining

HOLOTYA!   Cheesy, but that means hello in Ugandan… the spelling is questionable :/   These past 10 days have been one never-ending rollercoaster. From arriving at the Entebbe Airport to sitting at an outdated computer in an internet cafe in Tororo, Uganda-I hate to say it, but its becoming one beautiful blur. I don’t have a lot of time so I’ll make this brief.   As soon as we landed we experienced “Africa Time”…. oh, the waiting. At least a couple hours passed before we were once again on the move. And that’s when were...

Hellotoya!

Habari! I’ve been looking forward to blogging all week because of the excitement of sharing some of the amazing adventures I’ve already had here in Africa.  So far I’ve rafted the Nile, which I think is maybe one of the coolest things I will ever be able to claim to my name. It was slightly terrifying , but incredibly invigorating. Right now my team and I are sleeping in a school.  We do door to door ministry daily, but have also done children and discipleship seminars. The people of Uganda are wonderful. They are heartbreakingly welcoming, and have already...
