AFX TEAM 2 Update

Hey Everyone! We wanted to update you on how our first week in Kenya has been! We are staying at Sburu Masaai tribe homestead in Satiman, Kenya. Our tents are coming in very handy. The ministry we are a part of began yesterday and will last for two weeks. Our contact pastors set up four village visits for us, hoping that we can build relationships and bring more people to church and more importantly TO CHRIST. Also, we have been able to teach at the local primary school. God is definitely moving here and we are looking forward to sharing stories in the near future. Our move to Uganda will...

Sopa, Meisisi Yesu!

Greetings family and friends! The Lord has been working in and through our team so much already. We have experienced so many beautiful things and God's presence as we travel and spend time with the Maasai people. We drove the three hour drive from Nanyuki, Kenya to the area called Masul, Kenya in the Bush of Africa. The drive was so beautiful with mountainous scenery, friendly African faces, giraffes, camels, a hyena, and gazelles. We were greeted so warmly by the Maasai people after the bumpy dirt road drive. They prepared a meal for us and we all set up our tents and settled in. It...

Musul

Last Thursday we arrived in Musul, where we will be ministering for the next two weeks. We are far out in the bush, the closest town is 50 km away over bumpy dirt roads. We are tenting in a small village with 7 houses, there are no showers, we walk everywhere we go, and we have a nice squatty potty. Elephants, zebras, and antelope are common here. It is exactly what I was hoping for.  The leader of this village is named Joseph, he is an elder in AIC Musul, the local Church that we are associated with. Almost all of the people in the community are of the Masai tribe. We have found that...

I AM ENOUGH

I AM ENOUGH I have already fallen in love with everything about Kenya. It has far surpassed every expectation I ever had. God’s love and presence is so evident in this place and through these people. He has been so faithful as every sunrise and sunset. His beauty shines throughout the rolling hills and through every smile of every child. ( don’t be surprised if I bring one home, seriously) Since the day I stepped off the plane in Atlanta, God has been teaching me, stretching me, and been preparing my heart for all that he has for me and all the love he wants to give me. I am...

The Wakeup Call

Although we have only been in Kenya for less than a week, it feels as if we have been here forever.  God has been doing such amazing things through me and my team and I couldn't be more thankful. Let me share with you just one small example.                 We arrived on Thursday to "the bush"  which turned out to be a small village of one family from the Maasai tribe. To say I experienced some culture...

Kenya!

We have arrived! After 36 hours of travel we made it to Nanyuki, Kenya around 1:30 last night (Kenya time). Both African expeditions teams arrived safely, and thankfully no luggage was lost! We were greeted by pastor Samuel at the airport who then led us to two buses that took us from the airport in Nairobi to Nanyuki. When we arrived we were delightfully surprised to find dinner waiting on us.  A delicious meal of chipati(?), rice, fresh fruit, and mashed potatoes, talk about spoiled. The church we were staying at put us up in a room where we enjoyed a solid three hours of sleep. This...
