AFX TEAM 2 Update

Hey Everyone! We wanted to update you on how our first week in Kenya has been! We are staying at Sburu Masaai tribe homestead in Satiman, Kenya. Our tents are coming in very handy. The ministry we are a part of began yesterday and will last for two weeks. Our contact pastors set up four village visits for us, hoping that we can build relationships and bring more people to church and more importantly TO CHRIST. Also, we have been able to teach at the local primary school. God is definitely moving here and we are looking forward to sharing stories in the near future. Our move to Uganda will...

I AM ENOUGH

I AM ENOUGH I have already fallen in love with everything about Kenya. It has far surpassed every expectation I ever had. God’s love and presence is so evident in this place and through these people. He has been so faithful as every sunrise and sunset. His beauty shines throughout the rolling hills and through every smile of every child. ( don’t be surprised if I bring one home, seriously) Since the day I stepped off the plane in Atlanta, God has been teaching me, stretching me, and been preparing my heart for all that he has for me and all the love he wants to give me. I am...

Elephants and Pinapple

I am not a songwriter. I’ve always wanted to be, but my songs were always cheesy and I was too embarrassed to share them. The other day we woke up and saw an ELEPHANT! I have been wanting to see an elephant in the wild for the past 20 years. Truth be told, it’s part of the reason I wanted to become a missionary. I felt so loved and blessed to have seen it, I was jumping for joy. I prayed once again for the gift of song writing. This time, the Lord showed up- big time. I took my guitar out to a field and just started playing, all of the sudden my fingers started moving and my...

Karibu

Africa is even more beautiful than I had expected. The land and the people have welcomed (Karibu) us with such open arms. Even with sharing a tiny tent, learning to use a squatty potty(to be explained later), and not having showered in over a week, I am feeling more at home every day. The people I'm getting to share this journey with are beyond amazing. It's very  evident God has handpicked every single person for this team. In just the short amount of time we have been together, they have blessed me more than they even know. There is abundant love within the team, and everyone...

Musul

Last Thursday we arrived in Musul, where we will be ministering for the next two weeks. We are far out in the bush, the closest town is 50 km away over bumpy dirt roads. We are tenting in a small village with 7 houses, there are no showers, we walk everywhere we go, and we have a nice squatty potty. Elephants, zebras, and antelope are common here. It is exactly what I was hoping for.  The leader of this village is named Joseph, he is an elder in AIC Musul, the local Church that we are associated with. Almost all of the people in the community are of the Masai tribe. We have found that...

We Have Arrived!!

Hey Family & Friends! We have safely arrived in Nanyuki, Kenya! After a long journey, we were greeted by smiling faces and a delicious meal, and then were able to catch up on some sleep! This morning we headed in to town to get some supplies for the next few weeks. We are going to be heading to our ministry locations in the bush! We will not have internet for the duration of our time in Kenya (about two and a half weeks), but rest assured, we are in GREAT hands! Please keep us in prayer! We're looking forward to sharing some stories in a few weeks! Love, Ashley 🙂
